A California florist is far more likely to be selling genuinely local, recently cut material rather than stems flown in from Colombia or Ecuador, particularly roses, gerberas, lilies, ranunculus and stock. If freshness is your priority, ask which flowers are California-grown; in this state the answer is often most of them, and the difference in vase life is real.
