113 flower shops across 33 cities and towns
Rhode Island's state flower is the common blue violet, adopted in 1968 after a schoolchildren's vote decades earlier had gone unratified.
The smallest state has a correspondingly compact florist trade, but a busy one. Newport's summer wedding and event season draws work well beyond what the population would suggest, and shops there book out early. The New England pattern applies: a short, productive local season from June to September with excellent peonies and dahlias, and an imported winter.
