Wyoming's state flower is the Indian paintbrush, adopted in 1917, a wildflower that is partly parasitic, drawing nutrients from the roots of neighboring plants.
Wyoming has the smallest population of any state and its florists cover correspondingly large territories. Ordering ahead is essential rather than advisable, and same-day delivery to a rural address is often not possible at all. High altitude and very low humidity shorten vase life, so check water daily. The short summer produces excellent peonies and sunflowers.
