Connecticut has a dense concentration of long-established independent florists, many of them second- or third-generation family businesses in towns that have supported a flower shop for a century. The New England season is short but productive: local peonies in June, dahlias and sunflowers through late summer, and a strong autumn trade in chrysanthemums and dried material. Winter is almost entirely imported, so expect the price gap between June and January to be wider here than in the South.
